I was reading Ophelia and there was a mention of handwriting, and that got me thinking about your handwriting, and mine. I have a few books by a poet by the name of Tim Lander, and I intend to copy his layout style for my own little poetry book. In the intro, he writes "For me handwriting is like live reading - see the hand of the poet, hear the voice of the poet". All I'll say is that his books are handwritten (photocopied), and bound by hand as well. I love it. I love his poetry, and how he presented it.
Then I got to thinking about this blog, and decided to write an entry by hand, and then upload the photo. I'll admit I wanted to restart once I started writing... I felt the words weren't coming out well, and my hand wasn't writing well. But I didn't.
And here it is (click to enlarge):

I don't mind serving a beer or two to guests at Elayne's party, but we would never serve shots of the hard stuff. I agree that it's inappropriate to get sloshed at a kid's party. 10 shots is rediculous.
Maybe it's a gender thing?? I don't know. I find that when ever there is a get together, most men sit around, shooting the shit and drinking, when the women usually buckle down and get things done for the party and the other guests. Or maybe I am just sexist?? :D
There is usually beer and wine at the birthday parties that we host for our kids where it is our friends and family. No one goes over board and it is both men and women who drink.
This year was the first year that we also had a kids party for my son who is in kindergarden, there was no drinking then.
i would but i have serial killer handwriting. seriously.
ghost: i've seen yours. it's not serial killer writing-- it suits you in my mind. :)
as for the whole drinking at a kids party... i just don't agree. drink pop. drink water. save the booze for an adult's birthday party.
great idea :o)
Thats an intense entry.
drinking doesnt have to be done at every single opportunity. people dont understand that.
I will admit though, Ive taken Isabella to parties with me. But I know which ones not to take her too.
She's an awesome kid and handles those types of social situations well.
Also people know me, if you fuck up around my child, I am going to break your face.
Anyway.
I love this idea.
I agree with you! In my opinion, alcoholic beverages should be served at more adult gatherings (New Year's, Super Bowl, etc) not at kid's birthday parties.
