When I was younger, I made a promise to myself that the first $20 I got, I'd spend on candy. I don't think I ever did. Funny how priorities change... I've been thinking about what my reaction would have been if, as a kid, I had to shell out the $20 I just did, in addition to another $1000, to get the timing belt, water pump and cam shaft sensor replaced in my car.
Cars and bills seemed so boring, so distant from me.
Hello adulthood.

*sigh* I hear ya.
I posted a couple of photos of the bumper on my LJ for you to look at.
What if your car ran on candy??? I know, it's too Willy Wonka to even suggest. Don't let the kid in you NEVER get the candy. Go get some!!!
I know. The first time I shelled out over $300 for tires and was almost HAPPY about it, I wondered what the hell had happened to my previously-working brain.
Yeah, adulthood is nothing like I imagined it to be. I remember in 8th grade thinking, "If I could earn $20,000 a year I would be big pimping." Hahahaha! Boy was I wrong. Taxes, cars, rent, water, electricity, everything else... it costs a lot more than I thought it would.
the true meeting of each of us with adulthood is with Responsibility and Compromise
I know what you mean. The savings account I worked so hard to accumulate went to replacing the central heat and air unit.
