I noticed today that some of the Hardy Boys books I have were published in 1932. I read these books in the late 80s, early 90s and was shocked that they were written that far back in the day since they never seemed old-fashioned to me as a kid. I went on Wikipedia just now to find out the dob, etc., of the author, Franklin W. Dixon. What I found out made me feel like someone raped my childhood.
Franklin W. Dixon is the pen name used by a variety of different authors who wrote The Hardy Boys novels for the Stratemeyer Syndicate.
I loved those books. I read most if not all of them, over and over. I was even more into the Nancy Drew series... so it was with a sinking heart that I did another Wikipedia search... with the same result.
Damn you, Stratemeyer Syndicate.

but just think, if there hadnt been a team of folks tag teaming to make those books happen, there would have been far far fewer for you toenjoy. as a novelist, i can tell you, ill probably die long before i can finsiht the series in my head. and that sucks. because i need to tell theses stories.
I adored Nancy Drew. And that Ned. *sigh*
I agree, I always pictured one Carolyn Keene sitting at a typewriter happily cranking out Nancy Drew books for me..
