Short version of long story, my family is facing a complete life change as history repeats itself. Five years ago I was denied access back home to Oregon after coming up to Canada for two days. Fast forward to last week, and the same has happened to my mom. All because she was honest. So she's staying with us for the next who-knows-how -long. My parents have packed it in on the US. It's absolutely ridiculous. My parents have done nothing illegal there EVER, entered the country legally, never out-stepped the bounds of their Visa. So this past week my mom has been here, her name and passport are flagged so that if she tries to enter the US she'll be denied access. Never mind that her home of 10 years is there, her family is there, she hasn't done anything wrong... the arrogant country is using the smallest of reasons to shut people out of their oh-so-superior country. My mom and dad are driving to the interior of BC this week to look for a place to move to, so I'll have a chance to fully rant about this in the next couple of days.

That sucks. I hope having your mom around is more of a help than it is a hindrance - I know having my mom around would be some amount of both.
Are you kidding me?? That is insane!!! We have illegal immigrants from Mexico EVERYWHERE and they are cracking down on your mom???!!! I apologize Phx on behalf of my fucked up country.
Well, at least your mom will get to be with you guys for a few days. Like Gbost, I hope that's a good thing!
What the hell?
How do they justify this? =|
i wonder why we cant get that kind of customs security on our southern border.
That's stupid. What's the "official" reason for not allowing your mom back state-side?
I'm guessing that your mom isn't like my dad, trying to transport a couple oz's of mj across the border.
Phil: having my mom around is great. I have attention on things getting tense between her and Tomek, but so far so good. I know some of what she must be feeling, being suddenly totally cut off from her family, so I think I've been able to keep her spirits up pretty well--and LB is doing more for my mom I think than I am.
Mindy: thanks. I was feeling a bit weird about posting an anti-US rant because the vast majority of people who stop by my lil blog are American. But yeah, it's true, and my family is packing it in on the states.
Robynn: a few weeks actually. Maybe a few months. She and my dad are trying to buy a place in the interior of BC this week so they can move onwards and forward.
Moof: no idea. gah.
Ghost: yeah tell me about it. these northern border guards are pricks.
Shenry: ha! the image of my mom transporting mj... thanks for the laugh. :) the "official" reason is that she answered questions on a visa application honestly and she didn't have the appropriate documentation because it was in a safe deposit box that got lost over 10 years ago. she had some minor misdemeanors which were cleared from her record and she had an official government pardon, but the US won't let her in till they have... well i dont exactly know what they feel they need. I think a big ol' report from the cops on my mom or something. But she was cleared, pardoned whatever, and the books are closed on it. And they don't tend to reopen them. So i dont know how my parents are going to get the info. so right now they are just trying to get enough stuff together so that she can go back home and pack. and they are moving up here asap. my bros are going to live in our house in oregon till they graduate high school.
DOH! Sorry, it was Phil Plasma who made the remark about it being a good thing your mom is there, not Ghost.
Please forgive my faux pas!
