I accomplished something today; I changed my auto insurance to pleasure driving only, and my payments dropped by almost $25/month. I'm still paying nearly $200/month, but $25 is $25.
Much as I'm glad to not have to go into work every day, I haven't managed yet to shake that useless tit feeling because I'm not bringing in money every two weeks. I know I can help by bargain-hunting, and shopping smart for groceries, making meals so we don't have to eat out (which we did FOUR times on Saturday. 12:30am: BK. 10:00a.m.: McD's. 4:00p.m.: Taco Bell. 11:30p.m.: BK.--fast-food cravings anyone?!?!)... I have yet to recieve my first EI payment and may not until the beginning of August, at which point I will have been on mat leave for a month. Bastards.
On the flip side, I finally submitted my taxes (shh.. yeah, I know, late, but at least they got done in the right year this time around) and fingers crossed that I get the return that all my figuring said I'd get.
And Tomek did get paid for his little mine job up in northern BC, PLUS it sounds like he's going to get paid for a job he finished back in May--and those two jobs total over 6G. So timely, when I think about it--but I don't like the idea that he's going to be paying my car payment this month. I mean, we are married, and he says any money he makes is "our" money. But I can't see it that way yet. I'm still trying to contribute equally financially--but I guess I never really was when he's always made 1 1/2 times as much $ as me.
He'd like me to try to find a work from home job so that I don't have to go back to the smoke-filled office and we wouldn't have to put LB in daycare before s/he can talk.
Speaking of LB--the due date is this Thursday. Unbe-freaking-lievable.

The extra $25 will be quite handy. As for the 'I'm still trying to contribute equally financially...' I still feel that way and I work full-time, but because of the nature of my job and Danny's job, he'll always be the one to make more. Which works great for us because though I make less, my job is incredibly flexible when it comes to my hours and needing time off. His isn't so much. A work at home job is of course, ideal, but you have to be careful and well organized, your work is there with you at all times, whereas at a desk job you can pick up your purse at the end of the day and leave it.
As for Katie, yes, she'll be 2 in October, the independent streak begins.
thursday? wow. good luck, phx.
25 bucks is great. I think it's fun to look for ways to save money. (Of course I've been accused of being cheap before, lol). Seriously I enjoy that part of having a household, looking for ways to save money here or there to use somewhere else. We're big on coupons and buying in bulk.
This Thursday??? As in the day I'm getting married??? AWESOME! I can't believe it's time for the LB already. I'm sure you can't either...or maybe you think it's taken forever to meet LB.
6Gs? I'm thinking 50-inch plasma screen tv. How about you?
With Thursday being the due date, you're going to have to post once every hour so that when the hourly posts stop we know LB is on his way.
