My po' car is in the shop. And this is what I hate about having a newer car: everything is electronic! If any light comes on, the manual says, "take the car in to your dealership" so they can f*** you up the ass!!!
No, I don't like dealerships. I dropped my car of Sunday, it was supposed to be seen this morning, which means they probably won't get around to working on it till tomorrow, and I have work to do and I need to leave Friday right after work and drive south to visit my family. With Tom. And my dad will be home. *stress much?*
Something about the boyfriend-father relationship always puts me on edge. And I'm teetering.
And I have no idea how much the repairs would cost, or if it's going to be more than one problem... and I need my car in the evenings to make sales calls because people are a hollerin' for product and I can't get to them!
Well, Tom is going to drive me around tonight to a bunch of them... so that will relieve some of the stress.
But my Thursday evening is all gone--we are playing badminton and meeting up with his friend afterwards for a drink. If I'm hungover on Friday it's not going to be pretty. When I drive south on Friday's it's always around a 20 hour day for me. Yuck.
I just want my car back and healthy.

Good luck getting your car back safe and healthy! I too hate dealerships because they will screw you over at every possible turn (particularly if you be female). Like you said though, with cars so computerized and complicated now you're often left with little choice but to go to the dealership since most of the shadetree mechanics of yesterday can no longer service the more complicated problems.
I've never thought of cars as being anything other than a tool that helps me move about, so buying a car that is fancy or nice has not been a priority, as a result, I haven't had trouble with dealerships, garages, expensive repairs and so on. Like mindy said, if could simply be that I am male that I have had less problems.
What amazes me is how long they keep your car, I've never had to leave my car with a dealership for longer than one day.
And is just me or are repairs on VWs about 20% more expensive than normal brands (e.g. Honda, Toyota, Ford, Chevy)? It's always cheesed me off that repairs on Silver's Metro are noticeably cheaper than repairs on my VW.
Thanks Mindy! I did get it back yesterday evening... a little dent to the wallet, but other than that all ok.
Phil-my car is nice, but not fancy. I had an old car that wasn't reliable, and since my family lives 600km south of me, and I visit them every month, it was important to me to have a newer reliable car. It's now gone almost 100,000 w/o a hiccup (knock on wood), other than regular maintenance and this one repair. And since I picked up the car last night, they only really had it for a day. I couldn't drop it off Monday at all or Tuesday morning, so Sunday was my only option.
Shenry-I hear you! The common excuse is that they are German parts and aren't as abundant as Japanese and America parts. As for the mechanics, I had a wonderful mechanic that had a one man shop and 40 years experience with VWs. He didn't have courtesy cars, didn't wash or vacuum my car afterward, but he would take me into the bay with him and explain things to me without being condescending at all. And he'd tell me what to keep an eye on, and his prices were totally reasonable. He was awesome for my old car, but he retired, and I doubt he could do anything with my new car now. :(
one little thing - u dont have a sunroof :)
