I just want to bang on the drum all day
Some people seem to live such free lives, travelling, creative, having fun, and living.
I feel like I'm in a box. Bills should not be getting the best of me. I don't want to be here anymore, but I'll stay, just for the 2 measly pay cheques I get each month.
I did a quick job search and everything looked lame lame lame.
I feel misplaced.
I already dropped a wet tea bag on the floor and now...

Getting creative, feeling better
Okay, so part-time is a possibility here, and that could work because I started thinking back to an awesome idea a classmate and I had for a freelance team job, and I want to try getting it started again. Plus I had ideas for attracting summer tutoring work, and I want to get my web site on education resources up and running.
Now I'm feeling a lot better.
Thanks to Phoe, who chatted to me online and pulled me up out of my funk. (hug)

I have felt the same way, I think that having a family hasn't reduced the feeling, it has just buried the feeling. In idle moments (mostly at work) those feelings come up again for me.
I think we both need to find something wrt work that is simply fulfilling. Failing our ability to find that we need to find fulfillment from some other source. I have always heard that volunteering does a really good job of making one feel fulfilled. Maybe we both ought to do more of that (for me more is more than zero).
I think we all feel this way at times. Being an accountant, I certainly don't have the most exciting job in the universe. But I also have a mortgage, a car and a hungry cat to support and it is a stable profession. My job is just another chore in my life like taking out the trash except it lasts for 7 1/2 hours a day. I can't say that I enjoy it but at the same time there's worse places to be. Like Phil said, if we can't have a fulfilling job we have to find it elsewhere. I am not one of these people (like my boss) who eats, sleeps and breathes their job so I do try to do something fulfilling each day either mentally or physically. I agree with Phil too on the volunteering thing (who knew Phil and I thought so much alike). Right now, I do zilch and that's something I'd like to improve on. They say that to those who much is given, much is expected and I have been blessed with much.
You certainly have a lot of worthwhile pursuits outside of the 8 to 5 world: you play softball, you write excellently, you have Tom to spend time with. I think once you get out of the dreadful job situation you are in now, things will look much brighter.
My, I am long winded today!
Who knew that Mindy and I shared so much on this topic? I imagine we aren't the only ones that feel this way about how work plays into personal fulfillment. I'm guessing many people feel the same way. Take a look at some of the posts at ceremonial soup and you may reconsider how alike we are... :-)
I, too, will die of explosive diarrhea.
Aye, Shenry, I will join you in the toilet of doom then.
Mindy, They say that to those who much is given, much is expected and I have been blessed with much. I like it! Good for you! :)
Phil, similarities are great, but opposites attract!
