And thus it falls

Recent attacks on "natural" medicine have been surfacing on the news lately... and restrictions are in the works to remove many natural medicines off grocery shelves. They are treating them as if they are more dangerous than the chemical compounds used to treat supposed mental disorders in kids today (the side effects of these aren't even completely known!).

I have a huge beef with the way this is all going, not to mention the mind-altering drug epidemic that is sweeping our schools.

We are becoming a drug society, and I find it frightening.

The amount of ritalin that is going around, the amount of misdiagnosed add and adhd... really, parents are not spending enough time with their children.

Hopefully the news was just trying to put a spin on the show so it would seem dramatic and more people would watch it. I don't see how the government could really test 'natural' medicine any differently than more well-known medicines. ..It's all fda matters I guess.

Also,I've known (and dated) guys who were on/supposed-to-be-on ritalin and they would rather sell it to friends then take it daily because they don't like how it alters their personality on a day to day basis.
Our society has problems.

I too dated someone who took ritalin and he resented his mother for making him take it because he said he totally changed his personality. In today's world, we are too quick to look for a pill to solve our issues rather than trying to figure out why we have these issues to begin with and how we can resolve them without medicine.
